I recommend Nightfall, because this way you learn how to use, control and equip heroes. In the beginning, this is a bit more difficult than taking the pre-made henchmen, but later you are familiar with heroes and you are much stronger for the final missions.
I know many fellow guildmates who started in Prophecies (when Prophecies were the only campaign). Some didn't learn how to use heroes yet. They unlocked all of them, but they don't know which build are good for them, which hero to take, and how to equip them. If they go with me, I am often the only one who fills the group with heroes. I started in Nightfall myself, and for me using self-skilled heroes to fill the party was the natural play style right from the start. It was fun to make out builds not only for myself, but also for them. |

Yeah, I agree heroes are great, and I myself think making a 7 hero team build and tinkering around with it through trial and error is one of the most fun things in GW. However if you just start with the game you won't have alot of skills unlocked to give to your heroes. Playing through the slowpaced prophecies storyline will help you get used to the game mechanics and give you the opportunity to learn about what skills there are around you, without having to trouble yourself with thinking up builds for your heroes (henchmen do the job just fine).
That being said, I didn't start in nightfall myself (got GW 1 or 2 weeks before factions came out) so I don't know if it makes any difference at all to have no skills for heroes other than their basic setup. If others say they didn't have problems with that, then who am I to say they should have started in proph Whatever you decide to do, Chicomalo, is to have fun. And GW will guarantee you will have fun no matter where you start your adventure You are always welcome to contact me ingame to help play through a mission or quest, or just ask questions (IGN: Drow Ze) |

Thank you guys, I can see both side of the story about getting heroes right away or not getting them. I figure since my wife and I play together that we can manage it for now until lvl 10 were we get the M.O.X Golem. Then go from there. If I was playing by myself I would had gotten the nighfall route.

Even starting in Prophecies you can get 2 more heroes fast. When you arrive Lions Arch talk Len Caldoron and take quest "What Lies Beneath" this and "The Beginning of the End" take you to the first EoTN city Boreal Station and reward is 2 new heroes: Ogden Stonehealer (monk) and Vekk (elementalist). In next EoTN outpost Eye of the North you can craft maximal armor. After then my suggestion is map back to Lions Arch and continue Prophecies storyline because EoTN is designed for lvl 20 players.
